Programs That Strengthen Community Power

Our work is rooted in partnership, storytelling, and the belief that every resident deserves to thrive. These five programs support youth, honor elders, uplift local arts, protect housing stability, and build civic resilience across Braddock.

Five Programs, One Mission

Each program is shaped by Braddock residents and grounded in lived experience. Together, they form a holistic approach to community well-being — strengthening leadership, expanding opportunity, and building a more inclusive future.

Youth Leadership & Civic Engagement

We invest in Braddock’s next generation of leaders through mentorship, civic education, and hands-on community projects. Young people learn how local government works, how to advocate for change, and how to build strong relationships across the neighborhood.

Key Components

  • Leadership workshops
  • Civic education sessions
  • Community project teams
  • Youth-led events and forums

Outcome: Youth gain confidence, skills, and a deeper understanding of their power to shape Braddock’s future.

Elder Oral History & Memory Preservation

Braddock’s elders carry decades of wisdom, resilience, and lived history. We honor their stories through recorded oral histories, storytelling workshops, and community archiving that preserves Braddock’s legacy for future generations.

Key Components

  • Oral history interviews
  • Storytelling workshops
  • Community archive development
  • Intergenerational events

Outcome: Elders’ voices are preserved, celebrated, and shared — strengthening identity and connection across generations.

Community Arts & Cultural Expression

Art is a powerful tool for healing, expression, and community building. We support local artists, public art installations, and cultural events that celebrate Braddock’s creativity and diversity.

Key Components

  • Artist residencies
  • Public art projects
  • Community mural collaborations
  • Cultural festivals and performances

Outcome: Residents experience art as a source of pride, belonging, and collective storytelling.

Housing Justice & Tenant Support

Stable housing is essential for community well-being. We provide tenant education, housing rights workshops, and direct support for families facing instability — ensuring residents have the tools they need to stay safe and secure.

Key Components

  • Tenant rights workshops
  • Housing navigation support
  • Advocacy for fair housing policies
  • Emergency resource referrals

Outcome: Families gain stability, knowledge, and support during challenging housing situations.

Civic Resilience & Community Safety

We strengthen community-led safety strategies through conflict resolution training, neighborhood resilience planning, and partnerships that promote trust and collaboration.

Key Components

  • Conflict resolution workshops
  • Community safety circles
  • Resilience planning sessions
  • Partnerships with local organizations

Outcome: Residents build stronger relationships, reduce harm, and create safer, more connected neighborhoods.
